Malawi lass wins Miss Teen Africa title in London pageant
UK based Malawian student Sangwani Harawa emerged the winner of Miss Teen Africa at a contest held in London on Saturday night.
Accoridng to the judges, Sangwani’s “sparkling personality” earned her the crown beating other 10 contestants.
Sangwani said winning the pageant was an overwhelming experience.
“I entered the competition not even thinking I would be able to walk away wuth a crown, “ said Sangwani in a message she poste don her Instragram page.
“I would like to thank the judges, my family and friends that came to support me. I’m deeply humbled witht hw overwhelming kind messages from everyone,” she wrote.
Sangwani emerged winner ahead of Rayaan Badi from Kenya and Stephanie Ayeni from Nigeria whow ere first princes and second runner respectively.
But the Malawian said she looks forward to work with the two.
“As of now, I am grateful to be fulfilling the ambassador role and work together with the Miss Teen Africa UK Trust in supporting charities that support sickle cell (& Young Stroke Survivors charity -SCYSS). I would also be working wuth the charities that cater to homelessness teens in the United Kingdom,” said Sangwani.

The 17 year-old girl last year participated in Face of Malawi UK contests.
The evening comprised a number of catwalk stages including dance.
Now in its second year, Miss Teen Africa Pageant is a Beauty and Talent Pageant showcasing young women aged 13-19 of African origin representing the 54 Independent countries of Africa including Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe and the Ivory Coast.
The pageant is the first of its kind and is devoted to strengthening the voices and representation of young females within the African community,with a huge emphasis on charitable deeds.
